KING EDWARD TOUR.

A DULL TOURNAMENT.

LONDON, 7the April.

His Majesty King Edward VII, who is at present on a visit to Portugal, yesterday witnessed a magnificent bull tournament, which had been specially organised in his honor.

A rearrangement has been made in this Majesty’s itinerary, and he will now reach Paris till the 2nd of next month.

It is expected that President Loubet will return the visit by coming to London in the autumn.

Later

The tournament witnessed by King Edward in Lisbon yesterday did not include a bull fight, but consisted of a purely spectacular display of gymnastics and skill in evading bulls, the horns of which had been blunted for the occasion.

(NOTA: A corrida de touros passou a ser, portanto, um mero espectáculo de ginástica acrobática com toureiros a fugir dos bichos embolados. O rei Eduardo VII era o "patrono real" da Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, RSPCA. É uma explicação para a deturpação dos factos e as mentiras...)
